COVID-19

Showed up knocking on doors

Through people on planes

Spreading vastly in stores

The phobia the terror

A new world has begun

We stay locked in our homes

And other people we shun

The lungs fill with water

Kill the old, young and sick

This newfound disease

Gave the world a big kick

The world changed overnight

And the world is now still

We now live in ghost towns

While it comes in for the kill

The disease does not murder

All the people it touches

For most they recover

And just roll with the punches

But the fear and the stress

Keep us glued to the news

For updates on death tolls

As we wait for our cues

Our city will shut down

As of tomorrow they say

Nowhere to have fun

Or go out or to play

The cage has been placed

We are trapped all the same

Rich or poor doesn't matter

And neither does your last name

So here's what I think

Though my opinion not asked

We are forced to stop living

And hide behind big face masks

I will fight from within

Not let boredom take hold

I won't watch all this news

And the depression unfold

I will stay well-informed

Ensure I do what I can

I'll have fun do my thing

And take control of my plan

Just because we are home

And have nowhere to go

The sun still shines bright

And we must go with the flow

This is life's big reset

It got out of control

The world moves too fast

So it got put on patrol

The answer is simple

Though naive at its best

Be kind and creative

And put your mind to the test

We have access to tech

And our computers and phones

We can do great big things

Though we sit all alone

This COVID-19

Cannot win if we fight

We must thing of new things

For new life to be bright

When change is abrupt

We're not doing things right

The reset's been pressed

Time for life to take flight

We have but two options

A or B make a choice

Use technology as zombies

Or take stand with your voice

We can watch television

And use up earth's resources

Or think and create

And become our own sources

Right now is the time

To change life as we know it

For life was mundane

Which was making us blow it

Take time to examine

The true essence of living

Forget all the falsness

Because truth is worth giving

The vanity the looks

Social media at best

Who are you for real

Let's put that to the test

COVID-19

There's a reason it hit

There was nothing substantial

So it made us just sit

With what we are given

Information in hand

We must be more productive

And not sink in quick sand

What about a new cure?

Or a brand new invention?

Wakeup world wake up

And start acting with intention

Too big to ignore

The whole world is affected

Which means how we're living

Must be wrong and corrected
